A Single Mom's Daily Appointment by Dow Tippett

Sherri,

I thought I would just respond here, then if you need something else I will try to make it happen, but my regular e-mail is harder to get to.

There is not one story, but many of how my mom did it right. Most importantly was the way my mother led our lives by her own. When I was eight years old my father left. Though the details of that could peak volumes to many they do not fit in this text. This reality, however, forced my mother to raise 3 boys alone. When she realized she could never make it happen by herself my mother became a student of the word.

Each morning, we would wake up to get ready for school and find our mother sitting at the kitchen table with her bible and journal open and pen busy sharing with her God the needs of her children. I believe if you asked her she would tell you that these mornings were the difference between who we are and who we might have been. Me and my brothers are far from perfect, but to look at others who were raised around us in similar situations you would hardly know that we were raised in poverty and want all our lives.

The wealth we have revealed in our lives is spiritual, we are children of the King and He was our daddy. Mom knew she couldn't raise us so she called on God and I could not be more grateful. Mom did it right.

What This Blog Is About

This blog is a compilation of stories of men and women who can recall a specific incident when their parent did something so right that it made an impact on them that they will never forget. By sharing these uplifting true stories, it is my desire to honor God for the work he did through them, to recognize those parents as instruments of God, and to inspire parent all over that sometimes, even the smallest “right” thing can make the biggest ‘’’right “ impact.
